Classroom ExpectationsIn Room 10, we only have four rules...
1. Be kind. 2. Be respectful. 3. Be responsible. 4. Be persistent. When our actions meet our class expectations, we work cooperatively, effectively, and foster a positive classroom community. Mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning; however, repeated disruptive behavior and/or the unkind treatment of any classmate will not be tolerated and will lead to a study hall behavior/written reflection and/or more serious consequences as outlined in the IHS Discipline Policy. *Please refer to the IHS Conduct/Discipline Guide in your child's planner for more information on the IHS Discipline Policy. |
Homework & Test PoliciesHomework Assignments: The student handbook explains that 4th grade students should be assigned 40-50 minutes of homework each night between their classes. If your child is spending more than an hour on homework, please do not hesitate to discuss this with me so that we can work together to look further into the matter! Homework assignments for each night will be posted here! 20 minutes of reading will be assigned each night (Monday - Thursday) along as other written work. No homework on Fridays! However, I strongly encourage students to read over the weekend! Incomplete Homework: Students will lose four points from their homework grade per missing assignment. They will be given half credit for completing the assignment the following night. If incomplete homework becomes an issue/pattern, I will be contacting home - remember, always feel free to contact me about any extenuating circumstances or questions about the homework! Tests, Quizzes, and Grading: One week's notice and review sheets will be given for tests...and you can click on these links to access them LIT Review Sheets & SS Study Guides! They will also be distributed in the classroom. At least two days notice will be given for quizzes. Literacy Grading Percentages: 50% - Primary Grades (Tests, Unit Writing Piece) 30% - Secondary Grades (Quizzes, Assessment Writing) 20% - Graded Homework & Classwork Social Studies Grading Percentages: 60% - Tests/Inquiry Projects 40% - Quizzes/Current Events/Graded Classwork |
Snack PolicyStudents are permitted to bring one snack to eat during our "working snack time." Please be sure that all snacks and birthday treats are on the Safe Snack List (click to view) provided by our school nurse, Mrs. Barbara Wagner. It is crucial to follow these snack lists and to check in with me if you are bringing in snacks for a birthday or holiday.
Birthdays are celebrated during our "working snack" due to time constraints. Please email me if you plan on sending in a treat for your child's birthday. Students may bring in treats with them or you may drop them off any time between 9:05 - 10:30 AM. Thank you! |
